  Pergole Torte Vertical tasting (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Glass: Zalto Universal and Burgundy
  Tasted blind. Clear, deep ruby color.
  Wow, what a difference a year make. All lactic and yogurt notes are gone. Fine, youthful fruity, Pinot like nose.
  Elegant, fine and precise, high acidity and tannin, very juicy, salty, good harmony and balance. Very long and fine. Needs 5+ years, but with air already drinkable. 93+

  Always a stellar wine. this 2018 is no exception. Already open and accessible even if obviously ready for a very long ride. the nose is a mix of pretty red fruit on the fresh side, floral notes and a form of seducive metallic and earthy undertone. Very pure and clean.
  on the mouth a signifcant power for a sangiovese but so obviously not pumped up, considering the exceptional finesse of the tannins. Length is amazing, sustained by a helpful and pleasant acidity. Drink it of forget it for ages, not many wines can offer both as a reasonable alternative.

  Young but shockingly accessible. Drinking very well. Assuming it doesn't shutdown should be pretty delicious over the next decade. Splash decant.

  Drank from a magnum that was decanted a few hours. Open and more expressive than excepted but still a lot of pine sap young quality. Dried leather and ripe cherry come through along with a lot of unresolved wood/oak. Good as always but this needs a decade to integrate.
