Tasted blind: Remarkable color and intensity still, I guessed it no older than '85; nose of toasted marshmallow as in creme brulee; dusty rose florality, beetroot, some nice autumnal notes. Great Purity and balance. Outstanding!!!

Second bottle generously shared with me in the past four months. Beautiful aged Chambertin nose. Dark fruit, earth and very lithe and elegant. In the mouth this gave an initial pleasing burst, but was then somewhat metallic on the finish. The previous bottle was more pure without any of the metal notes. It's always a treat to drink old Chambertin--unfortunately bottle variation (combined with the expectation set from the previous bottle) made this one less than perfect.
