Just not very good, at least from what you'd expect. I question if this was ever worth of "Grand Cru" status. Tart and thin. Drinkable is about the best thing I can say. Didn't taste over the hill, just never was.
From a magnum purchased in Beaune. Dark ruby. Fragrant sour cherry nose with a little mushroom and earth. Bright flavors with nice palate coverage and softer tannins than expected. Who knows if this might have become more complex with age but we all had the feeling we hit the sweet spot here. Very nice showing.
Fragrant light cherry nose, warm muddled stewed fruit early with balanced intergated notes of leather, pencil lead and alchohol late. The finish is abbreviated. It was an enjoyable wine with the turkey dinner, but would have expected more for a 1996 Grand Cru.
