  • Oxidative wines are among the most divisive in the wine community: eather you abhor them, either you love them. Count me as belonging to the latter category. I remember my first example of a few decennia ago, a vin jaune of a then iconic producer Marius Perron 1982: I was mad about it from the first sip. I have to confess that I was used to drink and like the very similar Fino Sherries. Stéphane Tissot is one of the best vignerons of the regio and although not cheap all of his wines are worth every eurocent. This wine is intensely nutty very tense and dry in the mouth, with an aftertaste of more than 30sec and an admirable equilibrium.

  • Vin de voile. Pnp, analysed in zalto glass. Superb hue of pure gold. Nose of Cognac spirit, cider apples, whalnut. Mouth rich of dried orange, whalnut and disturbing bitter end of dry mushroom. This end palate is spoiling the wine. I think it is corked.

  • Brief note.
Still quite young, needed 1-2 days to shed its nutty, oxidative notes to make room for more citrus fruit and more salinity.
This will be probably best from age 10 and impress for the next 2 decades.

  • Loire / Jura night: Nutty and oxidative, almost like a vin jaune. Not a fan of sherry notes in wine so definitely down as an acquired taste in my book.

  • Way, way too early to get into this but was nonetheless impressive.

Powerful, aromatic, lots of toffee, celery, with elements of lemon and cream that slowly gather in concentration. By day four the more bracing aspects of toffee/sherry had finally quieted down with the mouthwatering components of lemon acidity remaining intact. Bold and complex but also fresh and energetic. Good to buy more of and let rest for a while.
