  • The first sip was disappointing. One dissension all with a harsh aftertaste. Improved in the glass but remains a disappointment. My second bottle like this in a wine a normally adore. Bad batch?

  • Powerful Amarone, starting to get some tertiary notes as well. Lots of spices, alcohol, warm, bold mouthfeel. Paired extremely well with slow-cooked pork and pan-roasted duck breasts.

Drink now and for the next 10-15 years.

  • Decanted 90 minutes and drank with sausage, walnut, mushroom & ricotta Canneloni in a porcini cream sauce. First sip was…WoW. Rich, opulent, creamy with silky tannins. Medium/full mouthfeel but smooth and elegant. So great and easy to drink. As in my last note subtle dried raisin taste. A more modern Amarone. So good that I’ve added 8 bottles of the 2017. Excellent !! 94 points might be too conservative.

  • The first Amarone wine I ever had was the 2012 vintage 4 years ago... this one is as good as that one was👏

Full to medium body. Medium to low acidity. Soft but still felt tanines - very smooth. Long sweet ending👏

Lovely aromatic, spices, barrels, terroir, red and black fruits👏

Same richness on the palate: cherry, raisin, strawberries, raspberries, coffee, coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate, plum, blueberries, blackberries, anise, licorice, pepper, earthy, ginger, leather.

It is expensive, but I will buy more 🍷

  • Currently at a nice spot; early maturity. Medium strength bouquet of dark fruit, cinnamon, clove, and spices, dried Persian limes, prosciuto, and of course prunes. Similar flavor pofile--and just pleasantly savory with fresh and bruised strawberry, violets, and balsamic--but without the extreme viscocity of some Amarone; somehow the 16.5 is well contained in a relatively medium body.

Drinking well already with a brief decant and would be even better with a few hours' air and a few more years of evolution. now - 2035.
