  • 13% alcohol.

Translucent and still surprisingly youthful cherry red color. Dry, fragrant and very attractive nose with aromas of cranberry-driven Pinosity, some gamey meaty tones, a little bit of beet root, light wizened forest fruits and a hint of exotic spices. The wine is dry, medium-bodied and somewhat lean on the palate with bright, clean flavors of tart lingonberries, some wizened sour cherries, a little bit of sanguine game, light stony mineral tones, a hint of wild strawberry and a touch of earth. High in acidity with still firm and moderately grippy tannins. The finish is dry and somewhat lean with moderate tannic grip and lengthy flavors of wild strawberries, some crunchy cranberries, a little bit of meaty umami, light sour cherry bitterness and a hint of gravelly minerality.

A lovely, firm and moderately developed Gevrey-Chambertin that is not only packing quite a punch for a Burgundy at 19 years of age, but still showing some potential for further development. Although the wine doesn't feel young anymore, it certainly tastes relatively youthful for its age and there is still quite a bit of room for evolution in the fruit and the tannins haven't still resolved that much. Drink or keep. Good stuff and solid value at 35€.

  • My last bottle of a lot purchased at auction about 10 years ago. Excellent development and still quite alive, with translucent cherry and earth notes, acidity still in balance and a loam tinted lasting finish. A good example of a well-aged village wine.

  • Fresher and lighter than most Gevreys, but it is just about what I expected from this wine in this vintage. Juicy, and lot less Burgundian, almost Santa Barbara in style. Drinking great now, no need to wait, but will probably go 2-4 more years.
