Wow this is good stuff; I need to stop drinking these or all of mine will disappear. But its really full of pleasure. A deep nose with plum and cassis alongside ripe cherry; cherry blossom and violet with some mineral tones; very classic Volnay; definitely ripe, but still with exquisite balance; excellent density for a village cuvee and you hardly sense the structure at all due to the extract of the fruit. Delicious

Decided to check one of these early; not disappointing; this is beautiful stuff; the nose is super classic Volnay; ripe dark cherry, raspberry, a hint of orange peel; followed by floral and plenty of crushed limestone, a hint of black tea with more air; the palate has very good density and concentration for a village with a lovely juicy acidity and some mineral toned structure. Very balanced and elegant. Not sure I can ask for any more than this in a village Volnay. Should develop well. It may shut down, but its got enough fruit density that it may not. Lovely

A few days in Napa with fellow CT'r Cristal2000: Light and “feminine” (though I typically don’t like using that word), with an elegance that easily rolls along the palate with black cherry water, cinnamon stick, and muddled strawberry flavors. Finishes full and round, with the same grace it begins. Picks up weight and body with air. Drinks fine now with just a bit of swirling in the glass.
Tasted 2019 Lafarge Volnay side by side with 2019 Armand Volnay. Armand reports higher alcohol - 14% vs. 13% for Lafarge. Lafarge is a little more pink/brick, Armand a little more concentrated looking. Lafarge a little more scented, smells a little peppery, while Armand is more fruit intensive. Flavors are similar to smells - Armand is like a dark strawberry, Lafarge has cherry sneaking out too. Lafarge feels little more balanced, but Armand has a little more concentration. In the end for me, the lower alcohol Lafarge wins.
