Popped and poured. Lovely nose of sous bois, spice and dusty cherries. The palate is silky, moderately complex and softens with air to turn more pliant and velvety. In a great spot today.

This followed a bottle of Lafarge Bourgogne Rouge 1993 which we drank the previous evening. This wine is a big step up. Perfect level and cork. Glorious perfume, firm colour, a bottle in its prime. Initially pyxellated on the tongue (as was the BR), but this rapidly gave way to a sweet, rounded, beautifully balanced wine of flowers, red fruits, and ripe tannins. Very good length. It has been a very long wait for this to blossom, but it proves that patience can eventually be rewarded! Lovely.

Mature coloration, but quite deep. Starts off with strawberries, plums and decaying leaves. After a few minutes, the fruit darkens somewhat and a pronounced minerality steps to the fore; a slightly spicy stony earthiness which is very pleasant and adding wonderful complexity. On the palate, more of the same, still with a clean tannic bite and a slight rustic edge. Harmonious, long, still very much alive and true to the vintage. Gorgeous village!

Bottle, fill and color good. Cork was well saturated, but no leaking noted. Very good, but not as fine as previous bottles. This was not as vibrant and seemed older. Could be an off bottle, but this village wine may finally be aging.
