Pop and poured over 3 hours. The fruit seems to be handled well considering the vintage, not overly extracted showing some red fruit but still mostly blue/black. Unfortunately the use of new oak here seems excessive. Very toasty and sweet vanilla aromas mask what otherwise could be a very expressive gevrey. The tannins are fairly rustic and grippy. Blind I could almost mistake this for a Nebbiolo from Northern Italy. I’m not sure if the oak will integrate but time will tell. Do not open for 5-10 years.

Gevrey 2019 with Stannary (Zoom!): Often the last site they pick. It's on the northern end of the Cote St Jacques, below Combe Aux Moins and facing east - so lots of light but not much heat. Soil is red ochre, unusual for Gevrey (although Cazetiers is similar) and this helps by adding minerality and avoiding hydric stress. 20% whole bunch.
High-toned, sophisticated, layered nose. Good quantity of red fruit and plenty of persistence. Quite precise and intellectual. Really lovely bitter negroni-esque finish.
