Minor deposit. Deep ruby, still some purple on the edge. Beautiful, balanced, ripe Barossa Shiraz aromas, lifted by vanillin oak and the Viognier character. Ditto palate. Beautifully made. Lovely structure, balance, richness yet elegance. Powerful, rich yet balanced. Amazingly drinkable at 5 years for a hefty Barossa Shiraz, but it’s not a sign that it will not last. It’s a keeper. 15 alc. Even though the Viognier is just skins (the label says this but some say 8% Viognier), its impact is very clear. This demonstrates that big Barossa reds can be elegant.

Coravin then opened, more delicate than the factor next to him... with lighter fruit, raspberry, spice, exotic fruits from the Viognier...
Nice mouthfeel, med tannins with great acid drive palate, loads of fruity aromas, and quite long finish
Will certainly cellar well, but more enjoyable than is ascendant :)
For the record, the vines here are cuttings from the Old factor (150 YO roughly) planted in early 90's... same price though... a great companion from OZ

Fresh structured and Elegant - juicy black fruit - Black Cherry & Blueberry with Violet notes & a hint of Pepper. Super well balanced. Silky almost creamy rich finish with touch of Vanilla & Graphite. A powerful savoury Shiraz that compares well with most Cote Rotie.

Another very good wine from Australia. Good balance with slightly perceptible tannins.

Decant for an hour and magnificent. Taste the subtle apricot lift against a hedonistic and rich wine with fine tannins.
