One of the few times I open this for dinner and forgot to take formal tasting notes… I guess the food and wine paring were just too good! Haha
Very tight upon opening needed 2 hours of air to show itself at all for me.
Enjoyed in my Richard Brendon / JR glass I got concentrated aromas of Mediterranean Herbs, Chocolate, Black cherry syrup, And gobs of freshly crushed blackberry. I also perceived what was like a chalking minerality in the back of the wine after time.
On the palate the wine Contiguously follows the nose with concentrated black cherry, blackberry fruit with that chocolate merlot deliciousness. Good minerality and herbs the wine is grounded having a sense of place. The tannins are luxuriously fine but still young and chalking as they grip and then just let go. With the addition of Wagu Ribeye steak cooked in cast iron with Mediterranean herbs everything just makes sense and all problems melt away!
Overall: I won’t open another Oreno (this is my 3rd bottle) in while… The 2019’s are still just knock out wines of great quality and I’m gonna let them sleep to come into their full potential. I sense things are now changing and the wine is starting to tighten but even so it’s remarkably assessable.

Probably should have given this wine more time in the bottle and or a longer decant. Still very closed off after a couple of hours but got some blackberries, black cherry. Very full bodied wine here that once again I think will be much better in a few years. Still very good now though.

Very tight upon opening. Garnet color. Red fruits and herbs on the nose. Let it breathe a long while. Truly started to shine after around 4 hours of air. Raspberries, blackberries, cassis, thyme, mocha and some spice. Chalky tannins at first but very smooth after decanting for some time. The finish is very long with chocolate notes in it. Very high quality supertuscan with huge potential to age. I've had 2 of the 2019 so far and they've both been great!

Odd band-aid smell and an over wrought palate. Maybe its a bad bottle?

Liked it a lot - quite tannic -- I suspect it will last years. Good dark fruit.
