Medium reddish-purple garnet in color; almost opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, cassis & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, herbs, spices, minerals, graphite, leather & a bit of cedar in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & cassis with herbs, minerals, spices & a hint of vanilla/oak. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging. This 2020 vintage appears a bit richer & fuller then the 2019 vintage of this wine.

Classic cab notes of cassis and pencil shavings but with an intoxicating through-line of floral red fruit and feminine earthy notes. My first time trying this producer so I can't say how much or little it has changed from past vintages (as many past reviewers seem to bemoan), but it is rather approachable for a young cab. Although not -- to me -- in an obnoxious way.

The 2020 Sociando Mallet is a serious wine, it reminds me of the 2016 vintage. It is polished, big, with lots of stuffing. I don’t think it is going to be to Orlando Robert’s liking as it seems quite modern, at least here in its infancy. But it is without question a wine of high quality, the $23 price we ended up paying on sale at Zachys is an insane price for the quality. It will age for a long time. Immediately noteworthy was the bouquet that filled the room upon uncorking. Deeply ruby/purple colored, this big boy offers up currants and cassis, the only question is whether longtime fans of this estate, like the men from Orlando, will like its style. It is obviously very young and primary but for me, especially at $23 per bottle, I’m happy to have eleven more bottles in the cellar to enjoy over the next fifteen years. Rating: 93 points.

Impeccable is the first word that came to mind when I tasted this wine. Perfect balance, great concentration, lush elegance, good complexity, and a promising future - these are its hallmarks. While it is approachable right now, it wouldn't surprise me if it shuts down for a few years. Very lovely.

Well structured soft tannins can enjoy even now.
