  • Passed peak. Still drinkable and well balanced and finessed. Very aromatic mostly secondary aromas and flavors.

  • Decent, but not great.

On a side note- I ordered 4 bottles of wine from JJ Buckley (Two of these, 1 of the 2003 Vougeraie Montee Rouge and one the unicorn 2001 Mes Favorites which they said on their website they had in stock and prompted the order in the first place. Immediately get an email saying the wine will ship in a day or two and will forward tracking #. 5 days pass with no response so I email. Another two days (The Thurs before TG) and another email when midway through the day I become irritated as I ordered the wines for a early TG dinner and decide to call. Friendly customer service rep apologizes, says the wine is ready to ship at warehouse and will next day it- Fantastic.

I wake up on Friday morning with an email from CS saying the Mes Favorites was an error and they didn't have it but shipped the order anyway.

I was quite upset. It was the reason I placed the order (obviously I can't fault them for not knowing) but it was also the most expensive bottle on the order and when you factor the $20 shipping charge it rapidly raised the average cost per bottle.

I am writing this here as I emailed customer service two more times and never received a response. 2 of the 3 bottles they sent were bad- also may be out of their control but were talking 10 year old Burgundy, not 50. This third bottle is sipping nicely but reminded me of the horrible customer service and the fact that I wouldn't (and wouldn't want anyone else to) order from JJ Buckley again.

Sorry for the vent, but in this day and age online ordering from large retailers should be easy and fast.

Feel free to email me at easttide@gmail.com if you care to chat.

  • Dark in color for a burgandy, yet still pale. Aromas of cherry, oak, and earth. The flavors were strong but simple, with a long finish. Overall a nicely aged Burgandy which is drinking well.
