A bit too jammy and sweet for me, definitely New World Cabernent, but I've had a lot better at this price level. Pleasant in a superficial way, but not as good as some other Balbo wines.

Now, most people know it takes a little more than the items above to create exceptional wines, but they do lay the groundwork for doing so. Add in a dose of expert winemaking and commitment to the environment and sustainable winemaking practices and it brings you ever closer.
That’s what today’s wine brings to the table.
Susana Balbo Signature Cabernet Sauvignon 2019
After studying enology in Mendoza, she graduated in 1981. After many years of serving as a wine consultant and working in other wineries, she started her own project and founded her own winery in 1999. Along with her family, winemaker Gustavo Bertagna, and others, they craft numerous wines for our drinking enjoyment. The Signature Cabernet just happens to be the one I decided on.
Along with Cabernet Sauvignon, there is an addition of 4% Cab Franc, then spending 13 months in French Oak (30% new, 70% second-use). Add nature’s contribution, and what was swirling around in my glass were aromas rushing out signaling what was to come. Blackberry and cassis notes burst upon my palate with balanced acidity and slightly softened tannins. The wine carried on to a long satisfying finish.
One reviewer regaled it with a wonderful 94 Points, to which I would concur. Given a hefty production, the wine shouldn’t be too difficult to obtain, but don’t wait too long, I doubt it will last long.
Cheers

Tastes like a hot climate Cabernet. Nice leafy, green notes and good oak but a bit sweet, fruit forward and jammy. Not overly impressive at this price point.
