Ultra dark purple. Muted cherry nose that carried to the mouth, but unfortunately was tart and a bit syrupy even though it was still chilly from the cellar. Meh.

I'm going to follow Ben Christiansen and review the same wine and vintage at closer intervals in hopes of getting a more 3D perspective on the wine. In my tasting notes of 12/7/2020 I didn't mention the wine's body, here it is medium+. I may have gone a little overboard in giving it a '93' with a bewitching complexity; the present bottle may be a little less complex than I described the one tasted on 12/7/2020, but it is still over 90. To the suggested meat pairings I would add cheeses, both soft and hard, as hors-de-oeuvres and as desserts.

13.9% alcohol; Imported by Folio Fine Wine Partners, The Michael Mondavi Family, Napa, California; 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Cabernet Franc, the vintner's signature label grown in high elevation vineyards over 1160 meters in the Finca Brio, Los Árboles, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina; with that pedigree you would expect an outstanding red, and this wine delivers; real cork with less than 1 mm wine penetration, medium-weight foil; opened, vinturied and tasted right afterwards at room temperature (24 degrees C); medium legs, dark purple; nose of stone fruit, citrus, forest floor, trace of roasted marshmallows; full bodied, nice balance of tannins, sourness and sweetness; it could be that the Cabernet Franc slightly attenuates the stronger characteristics of the Cabernet Sauvignon creating an unexpected layered complexity; notes of stone fruit (plums, prunes, cherries). detected especially on the sides and back of the tongue; medium to long finish; pair with beef, pork, lamb, slow cooked on a gas grill under lower heat; serve this to your dear friends and guests who you would especially like to see again

Nothing special on the nose but okay on the palate. Lighter than the California cabs.
