Solid hermitage dinking very well right now. Secondary notes beginning with cherry’, smoke and minerals. Lovely balance but lacks some depth and intensity.

Bouquet of dark red fruits and tar, hint of flower underneath the cherry kirsch-like aroma, palate of red and black fruits, mouth coating glycerin-like texture, and long finish with tar (hint of black tea perhaps). Delicious now in its youth...

WWS Price/Preference Smackdown (blind tasting) (White Plains, NY): Drank blind at WWS tasting vs a California syrah. I've had this Hermitage in the past year, loved it then, & love it even more now. Purplish-deep red color, & still no visible signs of age. Fairly generous aromas of dark fruit on the nose, some smoke too. Full-bodied, on the round side with nice mouth feel. Plenty of black fruits here, along with some pepper, tar and earth. I love the chalky tannins too, that are already nicely integrated in the juice. Good concentration, balance & depth, along with lots of complexity and excellent length. This wine is still on the young side but is drinking wonderfully. I would still lay it down for a few years at least. It blew away its California syrah in a landslide vote, and was overall the #2 WOTN in my book.

Red fruit, pepper, tar, coffee, and flowers on the interesting nose. Fruit driven palate with firm, but integrated tannins. Long finish.
