Zinfandel and Primitivo can wear their high alcohol propensities pretty well. The splendid Wild Hog Zins at 16% for example. But that's not the case here (15.5%) in my view alas. A touch burnt and hot. Ashes someone said and while it settled a little in the glass (post decanting) this really isn't my style and I love Zinfandel. Time may help but I don't think complexity or interest will emerge. Disappointing given other notes and reputation.

Very well refined and elegant wine! The fruit was clear and yet subtle…this is a classic style OVZ, not one of the more recent “fruit bomb” Zins recently dominating the market.
Cheers!
