Dried red berries, strong sous bois and earth with a little spiciness on the tail. Substantial acid delineation. It seemed a little tired, despite the acid lift. I was a little surprised recent notes seemed to indicate it was still young; I didn't think it would get better with time. Maybe bottle variation. Good overall.

A suave and fruit-forward Pinot, with some ripe red fruits, black cherry and floral tones; Definitely more new world in style, but not in an over-the-top style; A very solid of not exceptional NZ pinot that may gain some additional complexity with bottle age

Dinner and Wine at Sun Wah (Sun Wah BBQ, Chicago, IL): Medium nose is very floral with violets all day intermixed with ripe black cherry. The palate is clearly new world with a riper, sweeter fruit profile. Good countering acids provide balance and elegance. Smooth, clean finish.

Dinner at Sun Wah (Chicago, IL): The nose on this shows a fair bit of crunchy red fruit, with much of the same crystalline quality as in 2008 red Burgundy, but there's a bit more ripeness and sweetness on the nose as well. The palate is pretty much in line with the nose, and there's a bit of a chewy tannic note alongside the tart red fruit here. Fairly dense, this just feels too coiled up right now for proper enjoyment.
