Community Tasting Notes (9) Avg Score: 90.6 points

  • Not ideal circumstances for proper tasting. As indicated by the property, this closes down between years 4 and 6 and I fell it was closing down. The beautiful floral and fruit aromas appeared 2 hours after opening and E. and I were on the last glasses. If you drink this now, give it air and time. Should have popped and shouldered sooner. As such, only reached 91 or so, but with more air/time would have expected 92 or so. Still my favourite southern Rhone wine. Will have to get more some day.

  • Brief note as I somehow forgot to comment it the day I opened it and today we are day three.

Classic La Nerthe white, concentration, complexity and balance with good peach/greengage fruit and minerality. The mouthfeel on this is really good, and despite the 14% alcohol, it doesn't seem heavy or alcohol rich at all. A very good white from an area not often considered for the quality of its white wines. Compared to previous bottle, this is starting to close down. As a reminder, at La Nerthe, they told me this wine is generally best from years 1-3 and then 5-8. I can tell we are approaching the 4th year, but fortunately not there yet. Was pristine on days 2 and 3. 92

  • Solid bottle. The Tinel is a significant step above but this cdp blanc is still a very good wine.

  • Excellent white C9dP. Bought this fellow last year at the chateau. A historical place in the area, setup in the 16th century, founder of the Chateauneuf blending rules, front runner solving the Phylloxera issue and bombed by the allies in WO2, cause the germans used the chateau as commando centre. Classic and a bit expensive because the have always sell a lot in the US. This white surprises during the friends Christmas dinner. As an elegant nutty mineral companion for coquilles with black truffle, with some magic.
