Pre La Paulée Zachy's BYO Dinner (Lafayette NYC): From magnum. Mature earthy red cherry with intense spice. Lovely, rich and fresh fruit with fully integrated structure. Past peak but still darn impressive.

Friendsgiving (Paradise Valley, AZ): From magnum, served blind. I guessed it was a GC from Vosne Romanee, '91-'93 vintage - close but no cigar as they say. The wine looked old, with some bricking and it was rather cloudy. Vosne spice was quite prominent in the aroma, and I rather enjoyed this wine though it was too dry for some of the others at the table. For people who are looking for primary fruit, this will disappoint. For others who prefer their wine older, like me, it's a treat.
If this mag is indicative of the state of the wine, then 750's may be quite dried out by this stage.

Zachys Pre-Paulee Fete (Lafayette - New York NY): From magnum. Stunning aromatic start of mature red berry and cherry with huge spice and subtle floral support. Flavors come across with a similar profile, just more mature and slightly tired. So slightly odd as a complete wine, with something like a 95 point nose and 87 point palate.

Zachys La Paulée "Warm-up" Dinner (Lafayette - New York NY): Small glass from magnum, brief note. Ultra ripe with baking spice and good+ concentration, but clearly getting tired.
