Burgundy Grand Cru with either first or last name with initial A, B, F, G, H, R and T: Pronounced nose intensity with notes of red fruits, toast, flora, violet, prune, fig, sweet date, mushroom. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Tannin is fine. Long finish. Decanted for 3 hours and last another 5 hours throughout the night. Will improve with ageing.

Seventeenth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Hughes House - Chicago IL): In Arnoux 02/08 Suchots/RSV flight. Brooding and dense, we opening this one hour in advance clearly did not suffice, even with an hour+ in glass. Bold red fruit with the spice we expect, just not fully all-together right now. Better from 2028 forward.

Went to a Vosne Romanee Grand Cru tasting today. We had multiple bottles of LeRoy, DRC, Cros P and others. This was my back up to a 1999 DRC Echezeaux. Fortunately did not need to open the Arnoux as the DRC was in great shape.
Once I got home I got a little excited and opened this bottle. It is actually just great and true to RSV, very light and feminine with a beautiful expansive nose of strawberry fuzz and great depth. Would have competed well against the big hitters today. Wow.

Lo Hei at Yan + late night at M&M's (Yan, National Gallery, Singapore): Much too young, but this was an impressive wine. The nose was pure Vosne goodness, with lovely draws of wood spice, ripe dark cherries, and more savoury accents of meat and earth. This smelt lovely. The palate was still clearly on the young side, but was clearly impressive, with Grand Cru intensity and weight to its dark cherry, Vosne spice and lots of dried earth and mineral tones - this wed to a lovely transparent feel, all the way into a deep, powerful finish. It was nicely structured too, with fine tannins and lovely acidity forming a really nice frame for the wine. More impressive than absolutely pleasurable at the moment - it may be rather asleep - but this was quality through and through. It will be lovely 10-12 years down the road.

After 2h of slow ox expressive nose of cured meat, musk, red fruit, cedar. Elegant palate, great mid mouth feel, long finish. Very grand. Early drinking window unlike the 2007 which is fully ready. Enjoyable now with a short decant or best after 2023. 96-97
