  • It's been close to a decade since I've last had this and when I saw it in the cellar decided it was time to check in on it. Took to dinner with friends to pair with an amazing 41 ounce 45-day dry aged Porterhouse. Wine was decanted about 3 hours before consuming. This has really lightened up on the fruit front and is now displaying bright acidic driven cherries, fully resolved tannins and distinctive tobacco leaf. This is not the big rich profile of more modern Maria Teresa's, but far more Burgundian if I had to compare it to something more widely known. It continued to open up as time went on and got even more elegant. The palate had long lingering flavors and the finish a bit shorter. By the end of the bottle my thoughts were this is a wine that has reached its peak and is sitting on a plateau, where it should stay for a few more years before it starts a slow slide into old age.

  • Weekly tasting group #153; A fully blind test. (@ The factory by AH): This wine is very mature, but still very exclusive. Complex and refined bouquet with sweet spices like cinnamon, smoke and chocolate. On the palate chocolate, refined, beautiful acidity and soft, fully integrated tannin. Still a great wine, but at the end of its peak now.

  • Game dinner with a very large group (@ TM): Some pleasant barnyard in the bouquet. On the palate mature and beautiful with soft tannin and elegant acidity. No mistake about it this is a great wine, but this bottle was less complex than expected. Will probably offer great pleasure between now and the next two years, but I wonder if this bottle was already on its way down…

  • Best bottle of wine that I've had in months. Dark purple, blue and black-fruited on the nose, but some hint of red fruits on the tongue. Possessing excellent balance; all the rough edges have smoothed out leaving a very elegant and flavorful wine.

  • Starting to show some brick colour on the edges. Nice dark fruit on the nose. Stewed fruit and spice on nose and palate. Enjoyed on first night, but less enjoyable on second night.
