Sassicaia/Guidalberto tasting at the Rheingau Gourmet Festival 2016: deep, non-clear crimson; nose filled with a prominent herb aroma; in the mouth red berries; medium body and full texture; short finish.

Served blind. Smooth on sides, has some age, bit integrated palate, dry tannins, good amount of oak. I get an herbal, lima bean note that makes me think Cab based. Guesses are Cab and 05 Bordeaux. Not that impressed with this wine. Pass. Racines.

This was superb. Dark garnet color, pretty in the glass. Expressive nose of red fruits and some spice. Smooth and complex on the palate, balanced, plenty of fruit left, tannins are firm, but not overwhelming, long finish. This bottle was a gift, so It was a one-of, wish we had more.

(winter-solstice christmas Brunner@Ben's) [vertical with 2005] Inky, meaty broth, founded pruny fruit, plums. Herbal, stemmy tomato, and tobacco leaf. Certainly the more developed of the two, and rounder. Drinking beautifully!
