  • Drinking beautifully. Tastes like a rich pinot -raspberry, ripe strawberry, blackcurrant. Excellent accompaniment to beef ribs and the stinky cheeses that followed it.

  • Deep garnet color. Nose: sweet crushed blueberry and black plum with accents of licorice, fresh leather, cola, clove, and a touch of mocha. Moderate/full body on the palate: loads of sweet, high-toned blueberry and plum fruit framed by cola, licorice, mocha, powdered graphite, and peppercorn. Tightly focused, juicy acidity. Moderate mineral-laced fine-grain sweet tannins. Lingering blueberry skin, cola, and graphite on the long dry finish. Superb balance and structure...exudes class. Still youthful and vibrant. Drink over the next 5-8 years. Outstanding, classic example of Margaret River Shiraz.

style note: Incredible complexity combined with the zing of fresh fruit is the hallmark of this well balanced wine from the quality Margaret River area of Western Australia. Loads of personality and many layers of flavor and texture, on one side "blueberry syrup" from rich concentration of fruit, then also "finesse" from the winemaker's magical ability to create a wine with old world values (elegance) and new world zest. Pair with lamb.

  • Heavy, a bit sweet, nowhere near as good as the cab/merlot bled from the same producer.
