Medium-deep reddish garnet in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of dusty/earthy notes & floral notes, some camphor, leather, herbs, spice notes of cloves, minerals, sandalwood & a hint of cedar. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & pomegranate with spices, herbs & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but will develop further with from additional aging.

On the nose, ripe red fruit, oak and smoke. Initial sips showed notes of leather, ripe cherry, wild mushrooms and oak. This developed nicely and notes of vanilla, tobacco and pepper came through. Lengthy finish.
Med+ bodied, dry, well evolved tannins and great character. This was a true to form BdM and quite enjoyable.
For the quality, this is a solid value. Will sip again.

Has a great finish. I tasted right out of the bottle, then decanted it for 5 hours. It’s smooth on the finish with lots of fruit notes (cherry and plum). I had it with a savory stew would rather drink it alone as it legit lost in the meal.

This is my third 2017 BDM, and so far they are nothing great. I decanted my wine, and let it aerate for three hours. The 2017 Castiglion del Bosco needs a whole lot of time. There is a thick layer of tannin, and a thin layer of fruit. I sipped over three evening's and I noticed no improvement. I'm not positive that this wine is going anywhere.
