Deep garnet color and surprising transparency for Barbera despite the deep concentration. Aromas of ripe raspberries and blackberries, tart cherry, faint cocoa and mint. Similar notes on the palate, but the palate is defined by razor sharp acidity. Light to medium tannins, and notes from barrel aging show up more on the palate through the long finish. Gorgeous balance and structure even though the acidity feels strikingly high, I expect things will integrate more and improve with another year or so.

I don't know what the other tasters are smoking but my experience was not the same!! This had mouth-puckering acidity which I managed to withstand but gave my drinking partner stomach ache. Add the 15% alcohol to the searing acidity and you have a great stomach liner remover. I tried to enjoy the ripeness of the fruit but this is so clearly out of balance and the fruit is more anecdotal and more dominated by the oak. That's what you get for trying to be a good consumer and buying organic without knowing the producer or their style. Too bad I have one more bottle - I'll look on the bright side and give it another 10 years to have a remote chance of mellowing out...
