Floral nose with Blackberry pepper and tar. A little astringent but enjoyable. Rustic in style. Black olive, soy and basil on the finish. This is a little boozy and hot. Not too bad though. Drink now.

This wine has evolved in to rather nice CDP. The large amount of grenache does indeed move it to the lighter side of most CDP's but in this case it seems to work well. I thought it was very good.

(PARVIS CdP FERRATON) 2005 Ferraton Dear Friends, The resurgence at Ferraton remains quite intriguing as this was once a source I would bypass without much thought. Spurred by Michel Chapoutier’s involvement and commitment to make Ferraton the equal of his own wines (including staunch adherence to biodynamic and organic viticulture as well as non-interventionist methods), my interest is now piqued. He is producing these with the same attention to detail but also with an emphasis on long-term ageing (like his own wines). Using less expensive sources like Crozes-Hermitage and St. Joseph, instead of Hermitage or Cote Rotie, he believes a serious wine of terroir and nobility can be produced at a price that is far less than his own high-end examples. While Ferraton still produces excellent Hermitage proper, it is this mid-priced level Crozes that has Chapoutier so excited - I believe you will be as well. Given proper storage, the reflection of site-place in this wine as it matures should show itself to be more than worth the tariff: We have an excellent price on this item, about the same as at the cellar door but there are only only 40 cases for the entire US so please adhere to the 3/person rule below. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price with perfect provenance 2005 Ferraton Crozes-Hermitage “Le Grand Courtil Estate” (WA88-90) ...another wine that is supposed to be outstanding and the best effort ever by Ferraton in the South (sort of a baby 2005 Barbe Rac for half price) is the 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape “Parvis”, another organically produced wine from the new face of Ferraton - haven’t tasted it but the allocations are so small it’s even more limited than the Crozes-Hermitage above: 2005 Ferraton Chateauneuf du Pape “Parvis” EXTREMELY LIMITED Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Rhone8660 Rhone8670

the drinking window says 2015, but I did not think this was over the hill. Enjoyable, grenache based wine. Light.

Plutôt agréable mais un peu léger, peut-être fatigué mais quand même belle présence en bouche, bien typé.

Solide, un peu tuilé, équilibré, subtil mais pas nécessairement charpenté pour l'avenir.
