brvino Wine Tasting #6 - Cabernet Sauvignon (blind) (brvino Undergraduate Wine Club at UCLA): Ruby with a hint of purple. Pretty nose with blackcurrant bush again. Bay leaf, blackberry jam, a little smoke (I don’t think it is tainted, just from the oak). It shows more balance and better to my taste than other wines. Oak also short as some dry oak leaves. Quite bright and fruity on the palate with only medium tannins and medium+ acidity. I also think it’s maybe off dry. Vanilla bean and a little liquorice. Blackberry. Long black berry and chokeberry finish. 8/18

Sight: deep ruby Nose: raspberry jam, cherry, ripe blackberry, just a touch of graphite Palate: fruit bomb, balanced tannins, slightest bit of cedar. A great everyday Napa cab for the price point!

Pleasant to drink with character true to its Napa Valley designation but nothing spectacular. Although I did not pick up on any smoke taint, I would suggest giving this 6+ months in bottle to allow tannins to mellow.

Also with loads of sweet fruit to it. Maybe that is The Critic showing through. No smoke taint.
