Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • Popped and poured long cork 45mm wet to 5mm
    Colour surprisingly deep garnet/ruby , slight bricking, I wouldn’t pick it as 20yo 15/15
Nose med+ intensity. Rich, ripe fruits ,black cherries, plum, and dried herbs. Lots of subtle aromas adding complexity to the nose , no off aromas , pristine 28/30
Palate med bodied, age has caught up here ,fading fruits , drying tannins on the finish , so disappointing after the promise on the nose 26/44
Overall , fabulous nose and colour , not quite right on the palate , actually on reflection I feel this bottle has cork taint , so I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt

    Ps
To determine cork taint if the wine is not quite right is to put a piece of gladwrap in the glass , swirl and leave for a few minutes , Trichloroanisole (TCA) , the active chemical of cork taint has an infinity to gladwrap and will to pulled from wine and bond to gladwrap

In this case this bottle had mild cork taint , the nose improved and more importantly the palate improved , the wine is still degraded but now drinkable and show what could have been
