Kistler! Delicious! And I am a negligent wine aficionado for not doing my tasting note until the last drops of the bottle.
In my view, Kistler has really evolved in recent years - moving away from pure power to something more measured. And it has been a great move. The wines are delicious and have fooled my burghound friends into thinking they are Meursault.
Wine is a creamy golden bright yellow. No signs of age nor would I expect any.
So I watched the second episode of "Drops of God" last night so I'm now all about primary vs secondary nez. On primary nose I get powder candy, melon, and grapefruit. On secondary nose I get more passionfruit and a wet concrete mineral.
On palate, wine is sound. Medium-high acid, dry, very long finish that echoes the grapefruit aspects of palate and a spice note comes out.
This is a great wine! But I'd give it a few more years til the next one. And that's to be expected. I do love these wines when young but this will be at its objective best with a little mellowing.
