Lovely aging on this one. Still the ever present tannic finish that is common on the 2006 but ten years of aging has rounded it out somewhat. Full bodied with a medium-long finish. Let's give it a couple-three more years and see where it gets us.

Elizabeth Spencer tasting room visit- 8/12/16: Aromas of dill, clove, currant, cassis and tobacco. Rich, dense fruit on the palate, cherry & currant, with layered savory spice and cedar notes. Silky-fine tannin, full finish. Still very youthful.

Beautiful dark garnet color. Nose of black cherry, anise and rhubarb. Not a lot of fruit left on the taste but there is plenty of flavor of cassis, cocoa, green pepper, with a tannic cola finish that is med-long. Love the complexity and this is in a good place right now as far as drinking age. But no hurry to clear the cellar--it will wait for you for some time yet. It was an awesome complement to the gourmet burgers we grilled for dinner.
Oh, you MUST decant this at least an hour before drinking--two + hours is even better. You will know when it is time just with a sniff. Too early and the nose is a bit chemically. Fortunately it went away after an hour of decanting.

This has a medicinal iodine-like sub note that I just can't get around. Otherwise, it has good consistency, moderately resolved tannin, some dark fruit, fairly long finish -- but that iodine aftertaste kinda ruins it.

Decanted. Mature, correct, but nothing exciting. 14.1%
