A bit of a disappointment but I'm not sure if it needs more time or just was never that great to begin with. Tobacco, tar, and crushed flowers on the nose with a hint of fresh plum. On the palate, red fruit was followed up by souring acidity and lack of follow-through. It finished lighter than expected with dried cherry and light tannin.

Well, I made it halfway to 5 years from my last time trying this wine. Tannins have definitely settled but still a little grainy. Seems to have put on some weight since last time. Still fresh and showing no signs of aging. No real complexity at this point, but otherwise very good. If I had another bottle, I would sit on it for another 2 years.

Tfishler hit the flavor profile exactly....a little brown sugar as well (american oak?). Very full and enjoyable. However, this is the most tannic wine I have ever consumed. I would highly recommend if you have this, do not open for 5 years. I have1 more bottle so hopefully I can follow my own advice.

Christmas Eve dinner! Beautiful albeit a bit past prime. Fruit beginning to fade, but well integrated, tannins, alcohol and fruit.
