  • It's been awhile since I've had a Breton Morgon. Honestly, I'm drinking less Beaujolais these days as a consequence of so many hot vintages. This 2021 is much more classic. Fresh but with ample fruit. A classic vintage. Slightly bitter, perhaps. This is a bit hard to read in a terrible hotel tumbler but it is what it is. I'll take the rest home and revisit tomorrow. Bought these on closeout for $28, which seems a good deal for Breton these days. I'll take this over the superrripe, OTT vintages we've seen so much of lately.

  • Pours cloudy light ruby. High toned red berries and wafting florals on the nose, closing on white pepper. Negligible tannins and high acidity, Breton style. Cranberry, grey mineral, juicy medium finish. This bottling always toys with glou glou character, but the acidic cut and light seasoning of funk keeps it interesting. The lean vintage on welcome display here.
