  • Mature prunes nose; deep earthy plummy concentrated cassis and blackberry; resolved tannin; finesse and long plummy sweet soothing finish.

  • Blackberry, cassis, hints of tobacco; rich, firm, showing some age and development but still with somewhat decadent fruit; very long substantial finish; a little too exuberant initially but slightly more muted with time in the glass; not particularly complex but very good nonetheless

  • Tasted double blind. This wine didn’t really reveal all it potentially has in store. It was rather muted from start to finish. Hence it is difficult to assess. From what was there, i.e. not much complexity, a good balance and fine structure this was a 90 to 91 points experience at best.

TN: Rather muted nose with dark fruits, smoke and minerality. Never really singing. On the palate very dark fruited, minerality, some leather and tobacco aromas. Not really complex but ok to good precision. Fine structure with hard edges, good acidity. Overall quite balanced but with a rather short finish.

Decanting: Decanted for roughly 2-3 hours. Maybe it could have used more? Or less? Hard to tell as I haven’t tried it after opening.

  • During a St.Emilion dinner. Medium garnet. Clearly also here a victim of the Parker era. While Valandraud 06 and Le Dome 96 suffered from over-extraction, this one suffered from late picking. Lots of prune, marmalade, Kirsch, dark cherry and cooked fruit on the nose. Not oxidative that is the good news but the aroma profile reveals picking very/too late. Good mid mouth fill but drying Merlot tannins. A pity, less would have been more in this vintage.

  • Drank the other two bottles way too early. This bottle was amazing after an hour decant, complex and layered, decadent with the steak. Huge Fan.
