  • By the glass. Another single varietal of Assyrtiko wine from the Aegean area. Aromas of peach, passion fruit, white apple or pear along with herbal notes. Too direct for my taste but with enough complexity. On the palate it stands out for the fresh stroke of its acidity, a poorly integrated alcohol (14.5 ABV) and a flint finish. Another bottle without substance.

  • First Wednesday Wine Club (Bella Puglia, Five Dock): "Served blind.
Funky, meaty and herbs, savoury underpin, lemon, sweet spice, a little sweaty armpit. Medium plus intensity acidity, alcohol warmth, sweet fruit profile, touch of bitterness on the finish. Hmm.
Okay, old world but off the beaten path so Portugal, Greece or somewhere in the former soviet bloc"

  • Tasted at the estate. Part of their wine tour.
Bright and fresh of course but welcoming , soft bitter edge , bright acidity and surprisingly for this age and level of bottling is the expressive nose. Much like the great Italian whites Thai smells of nothing but also it does . Maybe stone fruits , maybe just stones ( ok getting a bit carried away here) . Soft saline on the palate, mineral of course and a very pretty offering especially for the price. 89-90 and with easily another 7-10 years of life in this albeit the peak will be in 3-4 we feel from what w heard here.
