  • Simply sensational. Nothing more to say.

  • After 37 years I had a best reason to open and deal this with the best friends, own sixties! Wine was enormous experience, well reserved and still enjoyable. We opened it 6 hours before, tasted and kept bottle open while. Just decanted to served immediately with roasted lamb.
The legs were medium. There was moderate sediment in the bottle. The body was medium. The wine finished medium and low acidity. Recommended to enjoy now!

  • Like the other tasting notes, this was definitely more the experience than ratings. Never experienced anything like this (in a good way) and was pleasantly surprised. Came alive after 30 minutes. Thoroughly enjoyable!

  • I'll echo the comments below: what a lovely experience. I've rarely had wine half as old as this, and was worried when entire length of the cork was soaked and the bottle smelled of sweetly acidic balsamic vinegar. And while there was more than a little balsamic here, the wine was plainly still alive and enjoyable after all these years, with a little delicate strawberry (and what's better with strawberries than a nice balsamic vinegar?) hanging on and a lovely acidic balance. The wine's longevity suited the occasion: my parents - in their 48th year together - meeting my fiancee. Hey, we're starting a bit late to aim for fifty like them, but we'll be thrilled if our union still has this kind of life at 35.

  • "Anniversary" Weekend at Rob & Lisa's; 5/29/2009-6/1/2009 (Scott's Valley, CA): No score, as there is just no baseline for a wine like this. Besides, it is more about the experience than it is the points, right? This is the first wine I have had from my birth year, as unfortunately the whole world had a crappy vintage except for those making port. This, however, has held up magnificently. nose full of sweet cedar, strawberry, and old leather. Still tons of stewed fruit on the taste with some leather and balsamic undertones. I was so excited when this turned out to still be kicking around. This is not a wine to top the charts, but it certainly made for one of my top 2 or 3 wine experiences thus far.
