Ripe, round, earthy, balsamic notes, herbs as well as dark berries, silky tannins, perfect balanced, long finish. Very impressive german pinot noir, that is on top now, but will hold for a couple years...

Around 27€/35USD in Germany. This PN aged over 11 year and had no sediments. The cork was good but not perfect. I drank it over 2 days. The eye sees a medium red with watery edges and brown reflections, slow legs, 14% vol. The nose is rich and complex, generous, with ripe plums, figues, amarena cherry, balsamic notes, red berries, marzipan, vanilla and a hint of leather (13/15). The palate feels a fine sweetness at the beginning, then refreshing acidity (medium+) and silky tannins (medium-) follow. Dry and fruity with aromas of red berries (12/15). Light(+) body but not thin, expressive, almost no alcoholic heat. Well balanced fruit, acidity and oak (which is very subtle) (7.5/10). Remarkable long and fruity finish (8/10). 13+12+7.5+8(+50) = 90.5/100 - An excellent wine and a super example for a great, elegant, strong and tasty German red. I guess it will keep up for some more years.

medium red; balsamic, herbs: lovage leaves, minerals, subtle red and black fruits, almost no barrique; despite the obvious power this is remarkably elegant and sophisticated: supple tannins, no bitterness, almost refreshing acidity, again balsamic almost Italian twist with herbs, black fruit, very nice, you can taste it's a 2003 but there is none of the overripeness here, excellent PN! 14% but where? alcohol seems to be an afterthought in this one
