My favorite when tasted beside the same Chave Mon Coeur from the 2010 and 2014 vintages. Opaque color, refreshing acidity, firm tannin, smooth, and balanced, with better richness, texture, power, and fruitiness. Will continue to improve in integration and fleshiness with another 5 years of aging, which is impressive for a moderately priced Cote du Rhone.

Retasted every day for 5 days, and nicely improved. Opaque with a small ring of lighter red at the glass edge. Pleasing nose of blackberry with hints of black pepper, European licorice, and smoked meat. Enters the mouth with smooth texture, rounded acidity, drying but not astringent tannin, and juicy black plum. A briary tannin finally emerges with the swallow. Overall, no flaws, aging very well, the most integrated and tasty the wine has ever been, and still still needs a few more years to reach its peak, where it will be even even more lush and fleshy.

A mal vieilli, des notes de réduction et assez plat, pas défectueux, juste sur son déclin. Ordinaire et mes autres seront bu rapidement ou donné apporté durant les fêtes pour le mononcle et la matante qui nous recevrons!

(J.L. Chave Sélection Côtes du Rhône Mon Coeur) Dark, very slightly cloudy cherry red color; nice brambly, berry nose; tight, young, brambly red fruit, berry and mineral palate; medium finish (needs 2-3 years; very good value)

Nice, but not as nice as the '05. Much the same flavor profile of anise and earth, but less fruit, and something a bit bitter about this one.

Big body with rough tannins. Lacks the elegance I'd expect from Chave and a classic vintage like 06, but I wouldn't turn down a second glass.
