AP 7. Level approximately 1 - 1.5cm below the (firm but not perfect) cork. Rudi Wiest and WineBid.com back labels, so clearly a well-traveled bottle. Pale yellow colour with green and golden refelctions, correct for age; the expression on the nose is characteristic, ripe but fresh, initially a bit muted but decanting clears this up; the palate is delicately sweet, elegant and well balanced, with flavours of lemon cream, peach and slate, although the juicy acidity is not a incisive as I would like it to be; the finish displays peach, blackcurrant but it ends a bit fuzzy with a hint of honey. Solid Spätlese, but not really exciting, certainly not as thrilling as the 2001 tasted last year. Is it the vintage or the provenance?

Slow-oxed for 8 hours on day one and drank over two days. Not sure which day was my favorite but both were outstanding. Drinking very nice right now

Spectacular, dynamite Riesling. So youthful, bright acids and slate. Long life ahead.
