  • Dark soils driven with just faint notes of flowers, very Gevrey Chambertin. Tannins are mostly resolved with slightly elevated acidity. Drinking now with little upside from here onwards but really no hurry to consume quickly too as it never fades over 2 hours lunch.

  • Lunch at Wah Lok: An intoxicating nose of dark floral fruit, palate was fresh - especially for a 1990 - and seductive as well. Most Gevrey out of the three wines today with deep, earthy notes. Was discussing the merits of 1990 vs 1993 and I do prefer the higher acid and less ripe fruit of the 93s that I have tried so far. This was still very good mind - a 1990 in tip-top shape.

  • PnP. ABV 13%. Bought a “Not original carton” case a few years ago, finally brought it out of long term storage. Interestingly, two different labels of the same wine, no idea why. Light bricking around the edges, looked really old. Clean nose, matured Burgundy nose with mainly floral notes and some earthy notes. Bright acidity level, tannins were resolved, finished with dark soils and old barrel notes. Pretty good balance and drinking well. Tasted like an aged Rousseau Cazetiers. No upside from here onwards, plan to consume the remaining bottles over the next 3 years. Consumed this over 4 hours, this never changed a bit, interesting. 1/12

  • Perfect level, fully saturated cork in good condition. Lightish delicate colour. Initial bottle stink, not promising, but it rapidly dissipated. Then, a thrilling cool nose and complex autumn flavours, flowers and leather, delicious acidity, good fruit still. Long and enticing. This is a lovely bottle, exemplifying good mature burgundy at its best.

  • Third Thursday Does More Red Burgundy (Willamette Wine Storage, Portland OR): Spicy and fruity notes work well together on the nose, with bright and dark cherry skins mixing with scents of apple pie, and black pepper. I would never have considered putting black pepper on my apple pie, but this nose makes me think that it may actually work! Cherry flavors roll out onto the palate and the fruit is full and long. Killer tannins gently swirl around and fill the mouth with a gentle squeeze. Great cherry and strawberry flavors with dark character linger out through the finish. Notes of bright fruit dance in the background, and the tannins remain balanced throughout the entire experience. That's a long time too, this finish is well over 20s, and it's lovely through the entire experience! This is a killer bottle of wine!
