  • Opened and served and we don’t feel the wine needed decanting as it also felt a bit fragile. Soft and well evolved , subtle and definitely elegant. Dark fruit nose , mellow and almost fully mature . It’s a solid albeit not a superb wine and unfortunately the hype surrounding these wines ( especially the whites) post the unfortunate passing of the owner/winemaker is now pricing them out of the value range. 92-93

  • Cork showed a small but worrying seepage, but pulled cleanly and smelt fine. On decanting the wine was dark but only showed a light sediment. A quick nose showed promise. 2h later, the nose had evolved further - dense bramble fruit but also with the unmistakable hallmark of good claret. In the mouth the fruit is still there and marries well with the smooth tannins and a little sour twist on the long finish (Mourvèdre?). Really delicious wine, stored for a few years by me and worth the wait. I have one other in reserve which I’ll leave a few more years. At current prices this is getting expensive so very happy to have bought at a fantastic price some years back. Santé!

(Grange des Peres) Man has my palate changed. I used to live for this wine and now it was interesting but too modern and manipulated. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah it had ncie barnyard aromas and some interesting kirsch aromas too but there was not much clarity and it came across as pretty ponderous. The oak stuck out to me and this goes on the list of wines I used to like that I cannot deal with anymore.

(Grange des Peres) Great, pungent aromas of leather, gane, tar, tobacco, cranberry, wet dog and flowers. Great Burgundian nose but that was not all that was Burgundian about this wine. The mouthfeel, the beautifully integrated oak were also very Burgundian. Soft and juicy palate with crucnhy and sweet fruit. High toned with a laser-like focus and purity. Rich but so light on its feet.
