Actually think this one is ready and will be great for at least 5 more years. In the Lafarge style and lovely. Wonderful with our lamb chop dinner this evening.

Appearance: dark brick/currant - more developed than I expected. I feared the bottle was oxidised. It was very tight at first (45 min or so after decanting) but it opened up nicely over the next 1.5 hours. Nose: earth, leather, oak and sour red berries. Very fragrant. There's also a hint of chalky minerality. Palate: medium bodied, tannins still have some grip. There is a persistent finish. I like this style - a bit earthy and not overpowered by fruit.

This is drinking pretty well- has a clear signature of what I'm gonna call a Beaune earthiness or rusticity but with a Volnay elegance- i.e., floral and pretty, especially when I think of Beaunes. Not sure if this winemaker or terroir; regardless, it's nice. Not profound or life changing, but really nice. Starting to develop that lovely texture that Burgundies (should) get with bottle age, but there are some tannins still that clamp down on the finish a bit, so I think there's upside here.

Souper chez les Lafarge: Alors que le nez paraissait fatigué à l'ouverture, il s'est réveillé avec l'air, se montrant fin, complexe, avec des notes d'anis. Belle tension, c'est complexe, impressionnant. 91-92 pts

13% abv. Ruby/clear. Tart, slightly underripe strawberries on the nose. Lithe and very fresh with bright acidity.
