Powerful nose of black currants and ripe cassis. Quite ripe with strong flavors of cassis and black fruits. Very expressive with good earthy flavors and notes of bitter chocolate and mid-eastern spices. Finishes a bit hot with somewhat rustic tannins and jammy flavors. There is good raw material here but this winery has some work to do to have this compete on the world stage.
Yatir, Forest 2005: This wine is at peak and showing beautifully, a special treat enjoyed in the best company. A blend for this vintage of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Petit Verdot and 10% Merlot. Deep royal purple in color with on the nose bursting notes of ripe, crushed black forest fruits, cheeries, herbs, spices and wet earth. Full-bodied, deeply extracted and brooding with a very dense and concentrated mouth-feel, on the palate ripe blackberries and black currants as well as boysenberries, earth, roasted herbs, a touch of licorice, freshly cracked pepper, pipe tobacco, with bracing acidity and near-sweet, chewy tannins coating the mouth on the long, plush and rich finish. Hedonistic. 14.5% Abv.

Top mature Israeli wines 2/2016 (at my home): excellent elegant nose & palate, well balanced, structured, complexed, still quite young and can age 2-5 years.

Quality Israeli wine 10 years old (at Eli Raban's home, Rehovot): dark opaque red-purple
elegant quality dark fruits aroma,
medium-full bodied, ripe fruity flavours, at peak, but still high quality wine
