  Bought this at the winery a couple weeks ago so we could have an older Rockpile with our friends who were in town. At the winery, the fruit was pretty dried out, except for a dried cherry thing. Secondaries were present, and not at all unpleasant. At worst, it seemed like it would be an interesting experiment. With our very nice dinner at Prima, this was gorgeous, the fruit dark and rich without being overbearing, and a nice integration of oak. Tannins are pretty much gone, there's no heat, just smooth and delicious zin.

  I would buy a case of this right now if available... balanced, delicious, great drinking by itself or with food (shrooms, sausage, ..); wotn of 3 reds. I repeat, balanced!!

  Drinking this wine brought back memories of visiting the winery on a dreary January in 2009. Surprisingly well balanced Zin with fairly high alcohol content, this wine tasted of dark berries with the essence of smoke and cloves. We enjoyed it with BBQ chicken during the All-star game.
