  • Fully mature but not pruney. Lots of cedar and leather. Medium body with no hard edges. Delightful.

  • This WA Cab had remained largely ignored in our cellar before we recently moved into a new space. We decided to open after learning that it was probably past its peak. Upon opening, the cork was somewhat moist, and easily broke into fragmented pieces. I don't know if this was a bottle-specific issue or common to this aged vintage, but the wine was unapproachable, and not drinkable. If you have in your cellar, DRINK NOW!

  • This is an understated WA cab. Very nice. My #2/#3 after the 08 Sea Smoke Ten and 06 Tensley Tierra Alta syrah. We enjoyed so many good wines. This iwas a wine that would have been very enjoyable without any competition.

  • A wonderful bottle of wine. Decanted for 1.5 hours. Nose of dark fruits, maybe violets, and alcohol. The alcohol lessened over the course of the evening, and this wine was very good at the beginning but downright great by the end. Overtook a 2003 Almaviva for WOTN, although it was my preference all along. By the end, both Wayne and Bob agreed. Full bodied, velvety texture, dark fruits very present but in balance, long finish. This wine is in a great place right now, and a real pleasure to drink. Wish I could find more than the last 3 I've got left.
What made me open this was a 2006 Fidelitas Optu in Las Vegas at Terra Rossa. That was just not even close to the same league as this wine, and had me a little worried. It wasn't bad - good fruit, but unresolved tannins and a slightly bitter finish marred the experience. No such problems with its older big brother.
