Aged and not getting better. Floral nose and a mouthful of mineral, I would drink these up quickly. Acidity is also on the rise, and brett makes an appearance.

Anise, Floral and Sandalwood on the Nose. Bob commented on getting 'Waxed Wood' which was a nice descriptor. Fruit Faded pretty quickly in the glass. Dusty, Minerals ... bordering on Tired. Bob said generally ClosDeBetz should drink in their "optimal plateau" for 4-10 years.

Betz Family Winery: A Bordeaux varietal retrospective with Bob Betz (Seattle, WA): Bright color. Hints of licorice, building notes of ash, some soy creeps in as this seems to oxidize a bit in the glass. Sweet on entry but then quickly moves to mineral and earth. This is a somewhat dry wine at this stage, still drinking well but with the fruit seemingly losing the battle with the tannins. Of all the wines tasted, this was the only one that was even remotely tired. If I had it I would be drinking up in the next few years. Vineyards: Harrison Hill, Klipsun. 68% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon.
