Intense dark garnet. Pepper, candied cherry, pomegranate on the nose. Strongly structured, high acidity, red fruit plays through the still somewhat tannic finish. Very good. Stylistically reminiscent of the Tardieu Laurent Cuvee Guy Louis.

Club Tasting 2: The Wines of the Northern Rhone Valley; 10/17/2008-10/18/2008 (Butler College, Princeton University): Med+ purple.
Pepper, a little sour cherry, faint oak on the nose.
Palate: sweeter fruit than the Vernay VdP syrah, dry, silky soft tannins, good acid, hint of savoriness.
Coming back at the end of the tasting, a bit mushroomy, peper, a bit savory, bright red fruit.

Black pepper
Some brown dusty sugar. Marginally better flavor concentration than wine #1.
