Drank with a group of wine-loving friends. The nearly unanimous consent (only 1 outlying opinion that I heard), was that this wine is in a great spot and drinking beautifully. It is not a super-extracted, high alcohol wine like some versions of Brunello. LaGerla is always much more feminine in style. It is fermented in stainless steel and aged in large, neutral Slovenian oak.
The wine was nicely perfumed. Rose, violets and a touch of graphite on the nose. In the mouth, it was soft and supple with a distinct sour cherry fruit coming across the palate. Good acidity and a noticeable spice on the finish that was very pleasant. At 13% the alcohol was balanced and did not stand out. A food wine, for sure. WOTN by a large margin for me out of a lineup of 12+ other Brunellos I tried.

Cheesy label but tasty Burgundy style contents. In my wheel house. I liked this but agree with R & R this is at or just past its peak. That said still plenty to love in this btl but I'd be reluctant to hold on much longer than six months to a year. Troy, I'll help you finish that last one :).

Monthly Tasting Group: Brunello's (Rinata, Mpls): Dark red color. Small pour. This seemed tired to me, there was fruit there, dried cherries, earthy, leather, a bit introverted on the nose surprisingly and the palate was light, spicy, and disjointed with the fruit not holding up to the alcohol that dominated.

Classic bouquet and taste. Astringent. Smooth and good mouthfeel.
