  • A bit of reduction on first open, which gives way to a soft, mature spätlese definitely on the richer/sweeter side, with moderate petrol, some nice peach and tropical fruit flavors balanced by just enough acid to keep it lively. Still some structure left, but probably already on a gentle downslope.

  • Slight signs of seepage under the capsule.
Strong tropical fruit (pineapple, mango), citrus - lime, floral, sweet - slight honey, good acidity. Bit rich. Really enjoyable.

  • PNP. Cork ok. Color light gold. Nose has lime and pineapple. Swishing shows some acid but the RS is dominant. Sipping shows rich fruit and super dense flavor. Finish goes on and on, but this still plays sweet. Was great with spicy curry tonight. Needs something with heat. Still think that this will last but never reach a delicate place. Really super long intense finish.

  • Developed, matur-ish yellow color. The first glass was too sweet for me. The middle glasses were textbook German Spaetlese, all forged steel and confectioners sugar, beautifully balanced. The last glass was too sweet. I want to say this bottle had more body than a comparable MSR wine, but, at 7% abh, I'm not sure this can be true - I may be suffering from some kind of anchoring bias, based on its Rhein origin. I suspect Auslese ripeness here. Anyway, if you open one now, aim for the sweet spot (so to speak) after it has aired well but before it gets tired and the acid balance collapses. I have way too many bottles of this wine left.
