Was really looking forward to the experience but the bottle had a mid-shoulder fill due to seepage, a murky, cloudy appearance, and the cork disintegrated into the bottle upon opening. It cellared with another 1969 Bichot La Romanee, both of which were numbered sequentially, at a constant temperature of 55 degrees for over 35 years. The unopened bottle is in perfect condition with a great fill and a beautiful color, which leads me to believe this bottle's flaws may be due to wine making techniques rather than a faulty wine. Filtered through a coffee filter via a Vinturi. Earthy aromas of sweet plums, prunes, raisins, and spice. Full-bodied with a thick, creamy texture and a surprisingly great mouthfeel. It was drinkable, almost pleasant, but it I'd be remiss if I didn't say this was a waste of a potentially great bottle.

A (Mostly) Burgundy Dinner after HDH Burgundy Auction (Naha - Chicago IL): Great color, great fill. Open ~45 minutes before serving. Black fruit with aromas of reduced mushroom, some dried herbs and anise. Good balance of fruit and mature evolution with Grand Cru density and great balance. Also held up well over the course of the evening.

La Paulee Gala (San Francisco CA): Aromas of earth, heavily reduced mushroom with prominent background licorice and baking spice. Powerful flavors on the palate show a bit more fruit behind the good earthy flavors and classically Vosne spice. Good power for its age.
